Una mamma di quattro figli è morta in casa congelata avvolta nel cappotto e nella sciarpa perché non poteva permettersi il riscaldamento. Elaine Morrall per anni ha fatto i conti con disturbi alimentari e problemi di salute mentale e anche ultimamente era spesso ricoverata per una forma depressiva grave. La mamma di Elaine, Linda, ha raccontato che la figlia accendeva il riscaldamento solo quando i bambini rientravano da scuola perché non aveva soldi per pagare le bollette.
Linda ha inoltre raccontato che non è mai stata considerata abbastanza malata per ottenere l’Esa, l’assegno di sostegno e disoccupazione. E non è tutto, perché a causa della malattia, non si era presentata all’incontro mensile al centro dell’impiego locale per la conferma del benefit. Il prossimo appuntamento era lunedì e ora è morta. Su Facebook la madre ha condiviso un post in cui chiede al Governo:
