Si è svolta a Los Angeles il tradizionale Academy Awards Nominee Luncheon al Beverly Hilton Hotel, il pranzo evento che celebra i nominati agli attesi Oscar 2016, i più attesi sul red carpet sono stati Leonardo DiCaprio, Jennifer Lawrence, Matt Damon e Lady Gaga, assenti di spicco gli attori Michael Fassbender e Cate Blanchett.
L’attrice Alicia Vikander, che è stato riconosciuto nella categoria Miglior attrice non protagonista per il suo ruolo in The Danish Girl, ha indossato per l’occasione un mini abito arancione a maniche corte di Louis Vuitton, Jennifer Lawrence ha indossato un tailleur con pantalone nero di Stella McCartney a cui ha abbinato gioielli EF Collection ed è nominata quest’anno per il ruolo di migliore attrice per il film Joy, sempre in lizza tra le migliori attrici Saoirse Ronan.
Tra i migliori attori Eddie Redmayne, che posa sul red carpet con la moglie Hannah per il suo ruolo in The Danish Girl, e Matt Damon per The Martian. Brie Larson (in monimation per il ruolo di Miglior attrice per il film Room) ha indossato un look di Emilia Wickstead a cui ha abbinato un paio di Christian Louboutin, mentre Rooney Mara (in nomination per Carol come miglior attrice non protagonista) ha indossato un abito di Giambattista Valli.
Rachel McAdams, in nomination nomination nella categoria Miglior attrice non protagonista per il suo ruolo in Spotlight, ha scelto un abito di Prada in georgette impreziosito da un ricamo dégradé di paillette trasparenti. L’abito è caratterizzato da bordi a contrasto ricamati con cristalli rosa e da un fiocco in raso doppio rosso.
Presente anche il piccolo Jacob Tremblay sul red carpet con Brie Larson, Sam Smith e The Weeknd in lizza per la migliore canzone originale, il primo per Spectre con la canzone “Writing’s on the Wall”, e il secondo per il suo brano “Earned It” dalla colonna sonora di Cinquanta Sfumature di Grigio. Attesa speciale per Lady Gaga sul red carpet con Diane Warren in nomination sempre per la miglior canzone originale con la loro hit “Til It Happens To You” per il documentario The Hunting Ground. Per l’occasione Lady gaga ha indossato un abito lungo di Christian Siriano.
Abbracci per Leonardo DiCaprio che posa con Sylvester Stallone e sul red carpet con il regista di The Revenant Alejandro González Iñárritu. Leonardo è stato nominato nella categoria miglior attore, mentre Sylvester Stallone è stato nominato nella categoria attore non protagonista per il suo ruolo in Creed.
